Noise Pollution Reduction
Our specialist industrial noise pollution solutions provide higher sound reduction than other remedies, and at considerably lower cost. We have a successful track record of solving noise nuisance problems after other methods from other companies had been tried but didn’t provide enough noise reduction to prevent further complaints.
Our specialist solutions for noise pollution control have been applied successfully to many types of fan and machine in all types of industrial company / factory and also in medium to large commercial firms and offices. An example is given below:
Noise Pollution Control – Solution for Chiller, Fan and Pump
A chiller and several types of pump were causing noise nuisance to residents living near the company’s factory, and we were asked to help reduce the noise. An urgent solution was required because the equipment was causing a considerable number of complaints from residents. Our noise survey showed that the solution had to provide an 11 dBA noise reduction to reduce the sound to an acceptable level and avoid further noise nuisance complaints. The chiller and pump sound contained a distinctive “hum” and “whistle”, which were the main cause of annoyance and the main priority for noise reduction.
Our noise survey included detailed diagnostic tests which identified the presence of faults on the chiller and some of the pumps. The solution was to rectify these faults and also to change the way the chiller operated at night. This remedy successfully resolved the noise problem. The installation cost of this solution was very low. The cost was thousands of pounds lower than alternative industrial noise pollution remedies commonly used by other companies, such as screens, acoustic enclosures, etc.

Noise Pollution Control for Chillers, Fans and Air conditioners
Chiller, air conditioner and air condenser units and their cooling fans are a common cause of commercial and industrial noise pollution. Because their fans need to exhaust hot air to atmosphere, they are normally situated outside. Because houses are increasingly being built closer to factories, offices and other commercial companies, the number of complaints about noise from such cooling systems and fans is increasing. Frequently, not enough consideration is given to the prevention of noise pollution when installing noisy air conditioning equipment outdoors.
Often, the noise generated by this type of equipment is dominated by a low frequency drone or hum from the chiller compressors and / or the cooling fans. There are a number of ways to reduce the noise. We usually use advanced or engineering solutions that reduce the noise at source because they provide a much higher noise reduction than common remedies. This is because the performance of common industrial noise reduction solutions, such as an acoustic screen, acoustic enclosure, barrier, etc., is poor at low frequencies.
In addition to high sound reduction, advanced / engineering noise control remedies that reduce the noise at source can save companies a large amount of money. The installation cost is often considerably lower than common types of noise pollution remedy. These solutions can be applied to most chiller, air conditioning and cooling system noise problems. The benefits of these solutions are so large that we use them for most noise control problems. There are more details of our solutions for this type of equipment on air conditioner noise reduction.
Prevention of Noise Pollution
The prevention of noise pollution is far better than trying to control it after installation. Although a high noise reduction can be achieved once equipment is operational, the best time by far for suppression of the noise is prior to ordering and installation. This is because the ease and cost of noise pollution reduction is usually considerably lower if implemented before installation, at the prevention stage. This applies to all types of equipment, including fans, chillers, air condensers and cooling systems, etc.
Furthermore, it is often possible to achieve a higher noise reduction at the time of installation than with retroactive remedies. This is another reason why prevention of noise pollution is better than control.
How to get our help to reduce and control noise pollution
Noise reduction is often needed for cooling fans, chillers and air conditioning systems located in offices as well as in factories. We provide noise pollution remedies to all types of industrial company and to medium and large commercial companies and offices (but we don’t usually provide solutions to small shops, pubs, restaurants or very small companies).
We have over 35 years’ experience of successfully solving sound pollution problems. To find out how we can help you using our specialist ways to reduce and control noise nuisance, please ring the number below or contact us.
